About Us

Our Story

Waikiki Bottom Fishing was created to offer a more personal, family‑friendly way to fish in Honolulu. Instead of crowded shared boats, we focus on small groups, patient instruction, and relaxed trips that are as much about the experience as the catch.

We know many of our guests are first‑time anglers or visiting with kids, so we keep our trips fun, safe, and easygoing. From a quick safety briefing to hands‑on help at the rail, our crew is there every step of the way.

The Boat

  • Licensed for up to 6 passengers

  • Caterpillar inboard diesel for reliable power

  • GPS, fishfinder, and VHF radio for safe navigation

  • Flybridge and shaded deck areas

  • Interior cabin with seating and berth

  • Onboard restroom

  • Iceboxes for your catch and your drinks

Whether you're fishing, taking photos, or simply enjoying the sea breeze, there's space for everyone to relax.

Captain & Crew

Our captain and crew are experienced watermen who have spent years fishing the waters off Oahu. They know how to find productive reef areas, position the boat for best results, and adapt to conditions on the water.

Just as important, they're friendly, patient, and great with kids. They'll help you bait hooks, show you how to feel the bite, and celebrate every fish you bring over the rail, whether it's your first or your fiftieth.

What's Included With My Charter?

  • All fishing gear: rods, reels, tackle, bait, and lures

  • A safety briefing at the start of the trip

  • Hands‑on help from the crew with baiting, fishing techniques, and handling

You're welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages, including your favorite drinks—our coolers will keep everything cold.

What Should I Bring?

We recommend bringing:

  • Food and drinks for your group (no glass if possible)

  • Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses

  • Light jacket or cover‑up (it can be breezy)

  • Camera or phone for photos and videos

Soft‑soled shoes and comfortable clothing are best for moving around the boat.

Can Kids Come?

Yes—children ages 3 and older are welcome on all of our private bottom fishing trips. These charters are designed to be family‑friendly, and our crew is happy to help kids get involved and stay safe.

For safety and comfort, we limit each trip to a maximum of 6 guests total, including children.

Do We Keep the Fish?

In most cases, guests and crew share the catch, and you're welcome to keep a reasonable amount of fish for a fresh Hawaiian meal. If you prefer, you can also release your catch back into the ocean—just let the crew know your preference.

When possible, the crew will clean and bag a portion of the fish you keep so it's ready to take with you.

Where Do We Depart From?

All trips depart from Kewalo Basin Harbor Slip A24 in Honolulu, near Ala Moana and just a few minutes from Waikiki. Your confirmation email will include detailed check‑in instructions, slip location, and recommended arrival time.

If you're driving, there is paid parking available at or near the harbor. If you're staying in Waikiki, taxi and rideshare options are quick and convenient.
